Pegah Valizadeh, assistant professor at the Honey Bee Research Department of the Animal Science Research Institute of Iran, was invited by the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna in Austria to present at the weekly Wilhelminenberg Seminar on May 31, 2023. Pegah’s talk, which was on “Recent unidentified devastating health phenomenon of honey bees of Iran with global risk”, was well attended by many faculty members, researchers and postgraduate students of the university. Following the talk a very constructive group discussion was formed. Pegah was also invited to present at the honey bee course to the veterinary undergraduate students. During her stay in Vienna, she got the chance to visit several research institutes and laboratories of University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna. Beekeeping Association of Vienna also organized two visits for Pegah, one to the educational apiary of the association and the other to the queen breeding apiary of the same organization. In her apiary visits, Pegah got informed about the practical educational plans of the Beekeeping Association of Vienna for leading a healthy and sustainable beekeeping in Austria. The University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna covered all the expenses of her travel.
